PMO Audit

A portfolio-level review of your PMO operating model: governance, controls, reporting, and capability. Right-sized recommendations land with a coached uplift plan.

Who this is for

Portfolios where governance is the real bottleneck, not delivery talent

Heads of PMO

Leaders needing an independent view of where the PMO adds value and where it slows delivery down.

Programme directors

Owners of multi-project portfolios who need a defensible health view across all initiatives.

Transformation sponsors

Executives standing up a new PMO or merging PMOs after acquisitions and reorgs.

What the audit covers

Up to five active projects plus the operating model itself

Governance health

Decision rights, steering cadence, escalation paths, and intake and prioritization controls.

Reporting integrity

Do status colors track reality? Are RAID logs reviewed? Does the data drive decisions?

Capability map

PM skill mix versus portfolio demand. Where to hire, where to coach, where to consolidate.

Tooling fit

Is your tool stack helping the PMO, or is it where data goes to die? Concrete recommendations either way.

PMO Audit FAQs

Will you recommend tearing down the PMO?

Almost never. The audit usually finds a handful of high-impact changes (controls, cadence, capability) that free up the team you already have.

How many projects do you sample?

Typically up to five active projects representative of size, risk, and domain. We can expand the sample for larger portfolios.

Do you include coached uplift after the audit?

Yes. The audit ends with an uplift roadmap. We can run the coaching engagement that follows if you want continuity.

Is this PMP or PRINCE2 aligned?

We respect both. The audit favors right-sized practice over framework purity. Controls earn their place based on portfolio risk.
